The bolt holds the complete variomatic unit on the crankshaft and has to keep its torque despite the high engine speeds and the vibrations the variomatic system transfers. Loosening variomatic components are a direct result when this bolt no longer holds its torque; therefore check the mounting during every variomatic service.
